Saturday Night's Main Event

Saturday Night's Main Event was a series of professional wrestling television specials produced by WWE. These specials aired on NBC from 1985 to 1991. They filled the Saturday Night Live timeslot periodically throughout the year.

1984: High Ratings on MTV

In 1984, two WWF specials on MTV, The Brawl to End It All and The War to Settle the Score, achieved high ratings, which led to the creation of Saturday Night's Main Event.
