The Senior PGA Championship, dating back to 1937, is the oldest major championship in senior men's golf. In 2011, the PGA of America and Whirlpool Corporation commenced an agreement which designated the KitchenAid brand as official home appliance brand of the PGA and presenting sponsor of the Senior PGA Championship.

2012: Harbor Shores designated home course

In 2012, Harbor Shores Golf Club in Benton Harbor, Michigan, was designated as the home course of the Senior PGA Championship, hosting in alternate years.

2014: Whirlpool arrangement extended

In 2014, the Whirlpool extended their arrangement through 2018, with KitchenAid becoming the title sponsor of the Senior PGA Championship event.

2018: Further extension agreed

In 2018, a further extension through 2024 was agreed between Whirlpool and PGA for the Senior PGA Championship, with KitchenAid as sponsor.

2020: Championship canceled

The Senior PGA Championship was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
