TSA PreCheck

TSA PreCheck, launched in December 2013 by the United States Transportation Security Administration, is a trusted traveler program that offers expedited security screening at airports. Eligible participants include frequent flyers, members of other trusted traveler programs (Global Entry, SENTRI, NEXUS, FAST), U.S. military members, and U.S. service academy cadets/midshipmen. As of October 2024, over 100 airlines and more than 200 airports participate in the program, enabling faster passage through airport security for enrolled members on domestic and select international flights.

December 2013: TSA PreCheck Initiated

In December 2013, the Transportation Security Administration initiated the TSA PreCheck program. This trusted traveler program allows selected members of frequent flyer programs, Global Entry, Free and Secure Trade, NEXUS, and SENTRI members, US military members, and US service academy cadets and midshipmen to receive expedited screening.

May 2023: TSA PreCheck Policy Change for Teenagers

In May 2023, the TSA announced that children aged 13-17 can accompany a parent/guardian through PreCheck lines if on the same reservation and the parent/guardian has PreCheck linked to their reservation.

October 2024: TSA PreCheck availability

As of October 2024, TSA PreCheck is available at more than 200 airports with 104 participating airlines.
