The Tulsa Race Massacre, a white supremacist terrorist attack, occurred in Tulsa, Oklahoma's Greenwood District between May 31 and June 1, 1921. White mobs, some deputized and armed by city officials, assaulted black residents and obliterated their homes and businesses. This event is recognized as one of the most devastating acts of racial violence in U.S. history. The assailants burned over 35 blocks in Greenwood, then known as "Black Wall Street", a prosperous black community.
