Wendell Johnson was a prominent American psychologist and speech-language pathologist who significantly contributed to the understanding of stuttering, a condition he personally experienced. He championed general semantics and left a lasting impact on the field, evidenced by the naming of the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center at the University of Iowa in his honor. Johnson's legacy is also marked by the controversial "Monster Study," an experiment that later brought posthumous scrutiny.
