Zabit Magomedsharipov is a Russian former professional mixed martial artist who competed in the Featherweight division. He gained prominence in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and previously held the ACB Featherweight Championship in Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB). In 2003, Zabit Magomedsharipov joined the Five Directions of the World wushu boarding school, where he lived for 10 to 12 years, receiving education and training in martial arts.
In 2012, Zabit Magomedsharipov made his professional MMA debut, marking the beginning of his career as a mixed martial artist.
In May 2017, Zabit Magomedsharipov signed a four-fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
On September 2, 2017, Zabit Magomedsharipov defeated Mike Santiago at UFC Fight Night: Struve vs. Volkov via submission with a rear-naked choke in the second round, earning a Performance of the Night bonus.
On November 25, 2017, Zabit Magomedsharipov defeated Sheymon Moraes at UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Gastelum via submission in the third round, earning a Performance of the Night bonus.
On April 7, 2018, Zabit Magomedsharipov defeated Kyle Bochniak at UFC 223 by unanimous decision, earning a Fight of the Night bonus. Shortly after, he signed a new multi-fight contract with the UFC.
On September 8, 2018, Zabit Magomedsharipov defeated Brandon Davis at UFC 228 via submission in the second round with a modified kneebar.
On March 2, 2019, Zabit Magomedsharipov defeated Jeremy Stephens at UFC 235 by unanimous decision.
On October 18, 2019, Zabit Magomedsharipov was expected to face Calvin Kattar at UFC on ESPN 6. He then faced Calvin Kattar the following month at UFC on ESPN+ 21 and won the fight via unanimous decision, earning a Fight of the Night award.
In December 2019, Zabit Magomedsharipov's younger brother, Khasan Magomedsharipov, followed in his footsteps by making his professional MMA debut.
On August 29, 2020, Zabit Magomedsharipov was scheduled to face Yair Rodríguez at UFC Fight Night 175, but Rodríguez pulled out due to an ankle injury.
On April 26, 2021, Zabit Magomedsharipov was removed from the UFC official rankings due to inactivity. At the time of removal he was ranked #3.
In early June 2021, it was reported that Zabit Magomedsharipov was suffering from health issues related to his immune system, which ultimately required career-threatening surgery.
