ASAP Rocky, born Rakim Athelaston Mayers, is an American rapper from Harlem. He gained recognition as a member of the hip hop collective ASAP Mob. His career took off after his single "Peso" was leaked online in August 2011, quickly gaining radio play. This led to him signing with Polo Grounds Music/RCA Records in October 2011. He subsequently released his critically acclaimed debut mixtape, Live. Love. A$AP (2011).
In 2006, ASAP Rocky served two weeks in Rikers Island where he shared a cell with future rapper Casanova.
In July 2012, ASAP Rocky was arrested after an alleged brawl, leading to a canceled appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, which was later rescheduled and he performed "Goldie" on the show.
In July 2019, ASAP Rocky was arrested for aggravated assault, later simple assault, in Stockholm, Sweden, following a street altercation on June 30. This involved ASAP Rocky and his entourage against Mustafa Jafari and another person. Jafari was beaten, kicked, and cut with broken bottles, suffering injuries including cuts and a fractured rib.
