Ahmed Hassanein

Ahmed Hassanein Pasha was an Egyptian courtier, diplomat, politician, and geographic explorer who served as tutor, Chief of the Diwan, and Chamberlain to King Farouk from 1936 to 1952. He was a prominent figure in Egyptian politics and diplomacy during this period. Beyond his political roles, Hassanein was also a geographic explorer and represented Egypt in fencing at the 1924 Summer Olympics, demonstrating a diverse range of accomplishments.

February 1946: Death in collision

On February 19, 1946, Ahmed Hassanein Pasha died in a collision with a British Army lorry on Qasr al-Nil Bridge. The official report cited rainy weather as the cause, though some suspected foul play. He was initially buried in his family's mausoleum and later moved to a neo-Mamluk mausoleum designed by Hassan Fathy.
