In 1914, the car factory that would later house Antique Archaeology's second location was built. Originally, this factory was home to the Marathon Motor Works, which produced the Marathon automobile.
In 2007, The History Channel premiered "Ice Road Truckers," another successful reality series. "American Pickers" would later surpass "Ice Road Truckers'" debut ratings.

In December of 2011, Antique Archaeology, the antique business featured on the show, opened a second location in Nashville, Tennessee. This expansion aimed to better serve their picking operations in the southern states.
Capitalizing on the success of "American Pickers," an Australian adaptation titled "Aussie Pickers" premiered in 2013 on the 7mate channel.
"Aussie Pickers" ran for two seasons and concluded in 2014.
In 2019, "Road to Riches," another show with a similar premise to "American Pickers," was launched on A&E Australia.
On July 21, 2021, The History Channel officially announced that Frank Fritz would be leaving his role on "American Pickers".
Tragically, on July 21, 2022, Frank Fritz suffered a stroke and was hospitalized. This news came to light through a social media post by Mike Wolfe.
In 2022, Frank Fritz left his role as co-host of "American Pickers." The circumstances surrounding his departure involved personal and health challenges.
In May of 2023, during a visit with Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz decided not to rejoin the "American Pickers" cast due to ongoing health concerns.
Sadly, Frank Fritz died on September 30, 2024, at the age of 60. His death was a significant loss for the "American Pickers" community.
