Borderlands 4 is an upcoming action role-playing first-person looter shooter video game, a sequel to Borderlands 3, and the fifth mainline entry in the Borderlands series. Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K, it is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on September 12, 2025, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release planned for October 3, 2025.

Prior to the release of Borderlands 3 in 2019, Gearbox Software had already begun working on Borderlands 4. The design of the planet Kairos was intended to be a "seamless" playable space with no loading screens, and the game was intended to be more open and free than its predecessors.
