Casey Mize is a professional baseball pitcher currently playing for the Detroit Tigers in MLB. He was the first overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft, selected by the Tigers. Prior to his professional career, Mize played college baseball at Auburn University.

During his freshman year in 2016, Mize played in 16 games for Auburn, starting in 7, and achieved a 2–5 record with a 3.52 ERA and 59 strikeouts.
In 2017, as a sophomore, Mize pitched in 13 games with 12 starts, achieving an 8–2 record with a 2.04 ERA, 109 strikeouts, and only nine walks. He also played for the United States collegiate national team during the summer.
On March 9, 2018, Mize threw a no-hitter against the Northeastern Huskies, marking the ninth no-hitter in Auburn program history.
On June 25, 2018, Casey Mize signed with the Detroit Tigers, receiving a $7.5 million signing bonus and began his professional career, debuting with the Gulf Coast Tigers.

In 2019, Mize was invited to spring training and later promoted to the Erie SeaWolves after a strong performance with the Lakeland Flying Tigers. He also threw a no-hitter for Erie before being placed on the injured list in June.
On August 19, 2020, Mize was promoted to the major leagues and made his MLB debut with the Detroit Tigers against the Chicago White Sox, pitching 4+1⁄3 innings and allowing three earned runs.
On March 26, 2021, it was announced that Mize would be part of the Tigers' starting rotation for the 2021 season, marking a key step in his MLB career.
In 2022, Mize started as the No. 2 starter but was placed on the injured list in April with an elbow sprain. On June 10th, 2022, he went on the 60-day Injured List and underwent Tommy John surgery, ending his season prematurely.
In 2023, Mize did not pitch in any professional games as he continued his recovery from Tommy John surgery.
In November 2024, the Tigers declined Mize's $3.1 million option for the 2025 season, making him arbitration eligible.
In 2024, Mize made the Tigers' Opening Day roster as part of their rotation. He was later placed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain on July 3rd and finished the season with a 2-6 record and a 4.49 ERA.
On January 9, 2025, Mize and the Tigers agreed to a one-year, $2.34 million contract, avoiding arbitration, and he made the Tigers' 2025 rotation as the No. 5 starter.
