Charlotte Hilton Green was a writer, naturalist, environmentalist, educator, and clubwoman. Born in Dunkirk, New York, she spent most of her life in Raleigh, North Carolina, starting in 1920. She authored notable works on birds within the Southern American natural environment and wrote "Out of doors in Carolina", a nature column for The News and Observer, which ran for 42 years. Her work highlighted nature and environmentalism.
