Danity Kane was an American music group formed in 2005 on MTV's "Making the Band 3" and signed to Bad Boy Records by Diddy. The group initially consisted of five members: Aubrey O'Day, Dawn Richard, Shannon Bex, Wanita "D. Woods" Woodgett, and Aundrea Fimbres. Wanita Woodgett left in 2008, followed by Aundrea Fimbres in 2014, leaving Aubrey O'Day, Dawn Richard, and Shannon Bex as the remaining members.
Dawn Richard, of Danity Kane, testified in the Sean 'Diddy' Combs sex trafficking case. The defense questioned accounts of an alleged assault on Cassie Ventura. Richard's testimony followed Ventura's account from the previous week.
In 2004, producer Sean Combs returned with Making the Band 3, the third iteration of the Making the Band television series, to find the next female supergroup.
On Tuesday, November 15, 2005, the second season's finale of Making the Band broke MTV ratings records as millions of viewers watched to see Danity Kane officially formed. Five contestants were chosen: Aubrey O'Day, Wanita "D. Woods" Woodgett, Shannon Bex, Dawn Richard, and Aundrea Fimbres.
