Diana Turbay was a Colombian journalist who was kidnapped by the Medellín Cartel. Her abduction was part of a larger strategy by the cartel to pressure the Colombian government into preventing extradition of its leaders to the United States. Tragically, Turbay was killed during a failed rescue operation. Her kidnapping and death became a significant event in Colombian history, highlighting the power and violence of the drug cartels during that period.
