History of Dobie High School in Timeline
J. Frank Dobie High School, established in 1968 and named after Texas writer J. Frank Dobie, is a public secondary school in Houston, Texas, serving grades 10-12. It is the largest school in the Pasadena Independent School District. To accommodate a growing student population, a Ninth Grade Center was recently opened. The school's mascot is the Longhorn and its colors are orange and black, similar to the University of Texas at Austin.
1992: Academic Decathlon National Championship

2011: Standardized Dress Code and Identification Badges Required
In 2011, Dobie High School implemented a standardized dress code and required students to wear identification badges above the waist on a lanyard on campus.

2014: Plans Announced for 9th Grade Center
In 2014, Pasadena Independent School District (PISD) announced plans to create a 9th grade center at Dobie High School to alleviate overcrowding.
