February 2020: First ATP Tour Title

In February 2020, Casper Ruud won his first ATP Tour title at the Argentina Open, becoming the first tennis player from Norway to do so. He also surpassed his father Christian's ranking, setting a new record as the highest ranked Norwegian player in ATP history with a ranking of No. 34 on February 17, 2020. Two weeks later, Ruud reached his second final in a month at the Chile Open but lost against Thiago Seyboth Wild.

2020: Italian Open Semifinal

At the Italian Open in 2020, Casper Ruud reached the semifinals as the first ever Norwegian. Casper then lost in two sets to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. Another semifinal at the 2020 Hamburg European Open the following week sent him up to No. 25 in the rankings.

2020: Victory over the U.S. team at the ATP Cup

In 2020, at the ATP Cup Casper Ruud led Norway to a 2–1 victory over the U.S. team in the first round-robin match by beating John Isner. In the second round robin singles match, Ruud beat Fabio Fognini.

February 2021: Reentered Top 25 ATP Ranking

On February 22, 2021, Casper Ruud reentered the top 25 to a career-high ranking of No. 24, after progressing to the fourth round at the Australian Open. He equalled his father's best placement at the Australian Open and a major. A few weeks later, he reached the quarterfinals at Acapulco but once again withdrew due to injury before his match against Alexander Zverev started.

May 2021: Entered Top 20

Due to his performance in Madrid, Ruud entered the top 20 for the first time in his career, rising to a new career-high ranking of No. 16 on 10 May 2021.

July 2021: Career-High Doubles Ranking

On July 12, 2021, Casper Ruud reached a career-high in doubles of world No. 133, after making it to the quarterfinals of the men's doubles tournament at Wimbledon with his partner André Göransson.

August 2021: Won fourth title of the season

On 2 August 2021, Ruud moved up to a new career-high of No. 12, after claiming victory in Kitzbühel, defeating Pedro Martínez in the final, to win his fourth title of the season and fifth of his career. He became the first ATP player since Andy Murray in October 2011 to win three titles in as many weeks. The following week he entered another Masters 1000 quarterfinal at the 2021 Cincinnati Masters but lost to Alexander Zverev in straight sets.

September 2021: Ranked in ATP Top 10

From September 2021, Casper Ruud spent 113 consecutive weeks inside the ATP top 10.

2021: Played in Laver Cup

In 2021, Casper Ruud was selected to play the Laver Cup for team Europe and won the first match of the tournament against Reilly Opelka.
