FBI: International, a CBS police procedural and spin-off of FBI, follows a team of FBI special agents as they investigate crimes and terrorism overseas. The series premiered in September 2021 and was given a full-season order in October 2021.
On January 12, 2020, reports surfaced that Dick Wolf and CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl were discussing the possibility of launching a second FBI spinoff, following the success of FBI: Most Wanted. Wolf envisioned FBI as a franchise, while Kahl expressed openness to ideas from Wolf.
On February 18, 2021, it was announced that a second FBI spinoff, titled FBI: International, was being developed for the 2021–22 television season with Derek Haas as showrunner.
On March 24, 2021, CBS officially ordered the series FBI: International. It was also announced that the series would debut in a crossover episode of FBI and FBI: Most Wanted.
In July 2021, Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Vinessa Vidotto, Christiane Paul, and Carter Redwood were cast to star in FBI: International.
