Gervonta "Tank" Davis is a highly accomplished American professional boxer. He currently holds the WBA lightweight title, a title he also held previously. Davis's impressive career includes holding the IBF super featherweight title in 2017, the WBA super featherweight title twice between 2018 and 2020, and the WBA super lightweight title in 2021. He is known for his power and exciting fighting style.
In 1940, featherweight champion Harry Jeffra defeated Spider Armstrong, marking the last time a Baltimore native defended a world title in the city before Davis's win.

On November 15, 2016, ESPN announced that Gervonta Davis would challenge José Pedraza for the IBF super featherweight title.
On January 14, 2017, Gervonta Davis defeated José Pedraza by a seventh-round KO at the Barclays Center in New York to win the IBF super featherweight title on Showtime. Davis earned $75,000 for the fight.
On May 7, 2017, it was announced that Gervonta Davis would travel to London, England for his first title defense against Liam Walsh, scheduled for May 20.
On May 20, 2017, Gervonta Davis successfully retained his IBF title by stopping Liam Walsh in the third round in London, England. Davis initially had trouble making weight. The fight aired live on Showtime in the U.S.

In 2019, Gervonta Davis held the Regular version of the WBA lightweight title until 2023.
On February 1, 2020, Gervonta Davis was arrested on charges of simple battery/domestic violence against his former girlfriend at the Watsco Center at the University of Miami. He was seen grabbing her shirt near her throat and dragging her to another room.
On October 31, 2020, Gervonta Davis made his PPV debut on Showtime, moving down to super featherweight and recapturing his WBA (Super) title against Léo Santa Cruz at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Davis won by knockout in the sixth round, retaining his lightweight title and reclaiming the WBA (Super) super featherweight title. The Ring Magazine later awarded Davis the Knockout of The Year award for 2020 for this fight.
In November 2020, Gervonta Davis was allegedly involved in a car crash in Downtown Baltimore after running a red light, leading to an indictment on fourteen counts in March 2021.

On March 22, 2021, Gervonta Davis was indicted on fourteen counts for allegedly causing a serious car crash after running a red light in November 2020 in Downtown Baltimore. His Lamborghini Urus struck another car, injuring its occupants, including a pregnant woman. He allegedly left the scene.
On June 26, 2021, Gervonta Davis faced WBA (Regular) champion Mario Barrios at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Davis won by TKO in the eleventh round, securing the WBA (Regular) super lightweight title. Barrios revealed afterward that the fight had a 10lb rehydration clause.
On August 21, 2021, Gervonta Davis was on board a Gulfstream 4 that suffered a nosewheel collapse and skidded off the runway at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. No injuries were sustained by the passengers.

On December 27, 2022, Gervonta Davis was arrested and jailed in Florida on a charge of battery domestic violence, days before his fight with Héctor García. The woman involved eventually recanted her accusation.
On January 7, 2023, Gervonta Davis fought Héctor García on Showtime PPV at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., marking his first fight since splitting from Floyd Mayweather Jr. Davis won via eighth-round corner retirement after García complained about his eyesight.
