The domestic goat is a goat-antelope species primarily raised as livestock. It descended from the wild goat of Southwest Asia and Eastern Europe and belongs to the Bovidae family, closely related to sheep. Goats were among the first animals domesticated, with evidence tracing back to Iran approximately 10,000 years ago.
