Hayden Birdsong is a professional baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants in MLB. He played college baseball for the Eastern Illinois Panthers before making his major league debut in 2024. He is an American athlete.

In 2019, Hayden Birdsong, as a junior at Mattoon High School, contributed to Mattoon's victory in the Apollo Conference Championship and was selected for the All-Apollo Conference First Team.
In 2020, Hayden Birdsong played one season at Lake Land College, where he pitched 15 innings over four games, achieving 20 strikeouts before the season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, Hayden Birdsong transferred to Eastern Illinois University to play for the Panthers, posting a 9.76 ERA in 27.2/3 innings. He also played for the Danville Dans in the Prospect League that summer, recording a 4.93 ERA in 18 appearances.
In 2022, Hayden Birdsong significantly improved, leading his team with a 3.35 ERA over 45 2/3 innings and earning First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) honors. He also led the OVC with a 1.40 ERA in conference games. Following his collegiate season, he pitched for the Lakeshore Chinooks in the Northwoods League, where he had a 2-0 record, one save, a 4.15 ERA, and 31 strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings.
In 2022, Hayden Birdsong was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the sixth round of the Major League Baseball draft and signed for a bonus of $187,500. He played his first professional season with the Arizona Complex League Giants and Single-A San Jose Giants.
In 2023, Hayden Birdsong progressed through three levels of the Giants' minor league system, achieving a 2-5 record, a 3.31 ERA, and 149 strikeouts across Low-A San Jose, High-A Eugene Emeralds, and Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels. While pitching for Eugene on July 4, he threw five no-hit innings with a career-high 11 strikeouts as part of a combined no-hitter against the Tri-City Dust Devils.

In 2024, Hayden Birdsong started the season with Double-A Richmond and was promoted to Triple-A Sacramento before being selected to the Giants' 40-man roster and making his major league debut on June 26 against the Chicago Cubs at Oracle Park. He finished his rookie season with a 5-6 record and a 4.75 ERA with 88 strikeouts in 72 innings.
