Jackson Wang is a Hong Kong rapper, singer, and songwriter, prominently known as a member of the South Korean boy band Got7. Beyond his group activities, he has established himself as a solo artist and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Team Wang, a record label and creative agency. He also serves as the creative director and lead designer for Team Wang Design, its fashion subsidiary, highlighting his diverse artistic and entrepreneurial pursuits.
Jackson Wang's L'Officiel covers are featured in a global project across 10 countries. The Generation Essentials Group announced the project with AMTD. Wang also achieved Billboard Top 13 album, marking a historic moment.
In March 1994, Jackson Wang was born in Hong Kong. He was raised by athletic parents: fencer Wang Ruiji and gymnast Sophia Chow.
In December 2010, Jackson Wang passed the JYP Entertainment audition, ranking first out of 2,000 applicants.
In July 2011, Jackson Wang moved to Seoul, South Korea, to begin his K-pop training.
In 2011, Jackson Wang won first place at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship as part of the Hong Kong national fencing team.
In 2012, Jackson Wang turned down a scholarship to attend Stanford University for fencing, due to his successful audition with JYP Entertainment.
In 2013, Jackson Wang appeared on the reality survival program Win: Who Is Next, a competition between YG Entertainment trainees and JYP trainees. He appeared alongside fellow trainees Mark, Yugyeom, and BamBam, who were then selected as members of Got7.
In January 2014, Got7 released its first single, "Girls Girls Girls," from its debut EP Got It?.
In December 2014, Jackson Wang joined his first variety show, SBS' Roommate, as a member in its second season and later was awarded the Newcomer Award at the 2014 SBS Entertainment Awards.
On May 12, 2015, Jackson Wang was appointed as a new MC for SBS' music show Inkigayo.
In December 2015, Jackson Wang presented on the Chinese version of the show Please Take Care of My Refrigerator, called Go Fridge, alongside He Jiong. He also wrote the lyrics, composed, and arranged the theme song for the show in seasons 2 and 3.
In March 2016, Jackson Wang was appointed as MC for Fresh Sunday, a show on Hunan TV.
On April 29, 2016, Got7 held their first concert in Seoul, where Jackson Wang performed his self-composed songs "I Love It" and "WOLO (We Only Live Once)" with group members Yugyeom and BamBam.
In July 2016, Jackson Wang appeared on the Chinese reality TV series, Fighting Man.
In December 2016, Jackson Wang's first solo commercial for Midea was released in China.
In January 2017, Jackson Wang was awarded the Popular Artist of the Year award at the Sina Weibo Awards.
On June 26, 2017, JYP Entertainment announced the release of Jackson Wang's first solo album in China, as well as the establishment of a dedicated management team named Team Wang for his activities in China. Jackson Wang also established Snake or the Rabbit, a distribution company based in the United States, in partnership with Team Wang.
In July 2017, Jackson Wang was awarded the MTV Special Award at the Asian Music Gala in Guangzhou.
In 2017, Jackson Wang attended the MTV Europe Music Awards as an Ambassador of Great China. He was also appointed as Alibaba Group Tmall Global's Chief Wonderful Goods Officer and attended the American Music Awards. He released his second solo single, "OKAY", and was named the Breakthrough Singer of the Year at the Tencent Video Star Awards.
In February 2018, Jackson Wang was appointed as envoy of Hong Kong Tourism.
In August 2018, Jackson Wang was awarded the Next Big Thing award at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards. Also that month, Jackson Wang collaborated with Sammi Cheng on the single "Creo En Mi".
On 22 October 2018, Jackson Wang signed with Canxing Culture to enter the international market.
On 6 November 2018, Jackson Wang released a single, "Different Game", featuring Gucci Mane.
On 14 January 2019, Jackson Wang was appointed as the new ambassador of Fendi China.
On 23 March 2019, Jackson Wang held a birthday party titled "328 Journey Festival" at the Beijing Olympics Sports Center. The 5,000 tickets were sold out in 98 seconds.
In June 2019, Jackson Wang was featured on the song "Rumble" from the album Diaspora by GoldLink and Lil Nei. Then he collaborated with Qin Fen, and released the single "Another".
On 12 September 2019, Jackson Wang held a listening session of his first album Mirrors for the press, which incorporates elements of China's traditional culture, produced in China, South Korea, and the United States.
In October 2019, leading up to the release of Mirrors, Jackson Wang was featured in three tracks from 88rising's album Head in the Clouds II: "Tequila Sunrise", "Walking", and "I Love You 3000 II".
On 12 December 2019, Jackson Wang was featured on the song "Face Power" from the album Mr. Enjoy Da Money, a solo album by Higher Brothers' KnowKnow.
In 2019, Jackson Wang released his first solo album, Mirrors, which peaked at number 32 on the US Billboard 200.
On 24 January 2020, Jackson Wang appeared on the stage of CCTV New Year's Gala for the first time and performed "The Beginning of Youth".
In July 2020, Jackson Wang appeared as a mentor on the Youku competition series, Street Dance of China. On 7 July, he launched his fashion brand Team Wang Design, for which he served as the designer and creative director.
In December 2020, Jackson Wang released the Chinese-language single, "Should've Let Go", with JJ Lin. That month, he also appeared at the KBS Song Festival, performing alongside Jessi for a rendition of her song "NUNU NANA".
On 19 January 2021, Jackson Wang left JYP Entertainment, along with other Got7 members after their exclusive contracts expired. Since then, Team Wang currently operates his international activities. Later that month, he released the self-produced Chinese single, "Alone."
In March 2021, Jackson Wang terminated his working relationship with Adidas, after their previously made public statement regarding alleged forced labour in the cotton-producing region of Xinjiang resurfaced.
In 2021, Jackson Wang left JYP Entertainment and formed the Chinese hip hop group, Panthepack, under Team Wang.
In 2022, Jackson Wang released his second album, Magic Man, which peaked at number 15 on the US Billboard 200.
As of May 2023, Jackson Wang has the highest number of Instagram followers among Chinese celebrities, with 32.2 million.
