Karnataka

Karnataka is a state in southwestern India, originally formed as Mysore State in 1956 and renamed in 1973. It is bordered by the Lakshadweep Sea and several other Indian states: Goa, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. According to the 2011 census, Karnataka is the eighth-largest state by population with over 61 million residents distributed across 31 districts. Bengaluru, the state capital, is its largest city with over 15 million residents.

March 2006: Karnataka School Statistics

In March 2006, Karnataka had 54,529 primary schools with 252,875 teachers and 8.495 million students, and 9498 secondary schools with 92,287 teachers and 1.384 million students.

2015: Establishment of IIT Dharwad

In 2015, the Central Government decided to establish the first Indian Institute of Technology in Karnataka at Dharwad.

2019: Karnataka Premier League Replaced

After eight seasons, in 2019, the Karnataka Premier League, an inter-regional Twenty20 cricket tournament played in the state, was replaced by the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 tournament.

2020: NIRF 2020 Rankings

In 2020, the Indian Institute of Science and Manipal Academy of Higher Education were ranked within the top 10 universities of India by NIRF.

February 2022: Hijab Ban and School Closures

In February 2022, Karnataka faced school closures and hijab bans, leading to protests. On February 5, 2022, the state government advised colleges to ensure clothes disturbing equality and public order are not worn.
