Laguna Fire

The Laguna Fire, also referred to as the Kitchen Creek Fire or the Boulder Oaks Fire, was a significant wildfire that consumed 175,425 acres in the Laguna Mountains and East County area of San Diego County, Southern California. It raged from September 22 to October 4, 1970, as part of a larger series of wildfires throughout California. At the time, it was the second-largest fire in California's recorded history, only surpassed by the 1932 Matilija Fire. The fire had a major impact on the landscape and communities of the region.
