Matthew Petgrave is a Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Sheffield Steelers in the EIHL. Known as "Gravy," he previously earned ECHL First-Team All-Star honors and played in top leagues across Europe. On October 28, 2023, Petgrave was involved in an on-ice collision that resulted in Adam Johnson's death due to a skate blade cut to the neck.
April 2025: No charges against Petgrave
On April 2025, the Crown Prosecution Service announced that after a long investigation, no charges would be brought against Matt Petgrave regarding the death of Adam Johnson. They concluded there was no realistic prospect of a conviction and closed the case.
