Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, is the capital of Maharashtra and the financial hub of India. With a population of approximately 12.5 million within the city proper and over 23 million in its metropolitan area, it is one of the most populous urban areas globally. Situated on India's west coast, Mumbai boasts a deep natural harbor. Recognized as an alpha world city, Mumbai is a major economic center and has the highest concentration of billionaires in Asia.
