NHL 2K is a series of hockey video games developed by Visual Concepts and published by Sega Sports (2000-2004) and 2K (2005-2014). Officially licensed by the National Hockey League (NHL) and NHL Players Association, the games simulate the experience of professional hockey. February 7, 2000: NHL 2K Launched on Dreamcast

September 15, 2009: NHL 2K10 Release with Anniversary Cover

On September 15, 2009, NHL 2K10 was released, featuring Washington Capitals left-winger Alexander Ovechkin on a special 10th Anniversary cover. The Wii version added online play, Mii Integration, and Wii MotionPlus. This was also the last game released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360.

March 3, 2010: 2K Focuses on Wii Version of NHL 2K11

On March 3, 2010, CEO Ben Feder announced that 2K would reevaluate their NHL strategy, focusing on releasing NHL 2K11 for the Wii to strengthen their position in the category, effectively taking a year off from PS3 and Xbox 360 development.
