National Book Award

The National Book Awards (NBA) are annual U.S. literary awards presented by the National Book Foundation. Established in 1936 by the American Booksellers Association, they were discontinued during World War II and revived in 1950 by book industry organizations. Initially open to non-U.S. authors, the awards now recognize U.S. authors for books published in the United States within the award year. The awards ceremony, held every November, also includes the presentation of two lifetime achievement awards.
