Its year-round population is around 6,844, but it swells to over 300,000 during summer weekends, hosting millions of visitors annually. This seasonal influx makes it the second most populated municipality in Maryland during the summer, after Baltimore. Ocean City is also part of the Salisbury metropolitan area.
