Pepper X is a cultivar of Capsicum chili pepper. It was bred by Ed Currie, who also created the Carolina Reaper. It was recognized as the world's hottest pepper by Guinness World Records in 2023. Pepper X was created by Ed Currie of Puckerbutt Pepper Company in Fort Mill, South Carolina. It clocks in at an average of 3,180,000 SHU on the Scoville scale.
