Pierce the Veil is an American rock band established in 2006 in San Diego, California, by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after their previous band, Before Today, dissolved. The lineup solidified in 2007 with the addition of Jaime Preciado on bass and Tony Perry as lead guitarist. They are known for their post-hardcore sound and energetic performances.

On June 26, 2007, Pierce the Veil released their album "A Flair for the Dramatic" under Equal Vision Records. The band's name was derived from a song of the same name by their previous band, Before Today.

In 2007, Jaime Preciado and Tony Perry joined Pierce the Veil, taking on the roles of bassist and lead guitarist, respectively.
In 2007, Pierce the Veil released their debut album, A Flair for the Dramatic, and commenced touring worldwide in support of the album.
In October–November 2008, Pierce the Veil embarked on their first headlining tour, called The Delicious Tour, which featured Breathe Carolina, Four Letter Lie and Emarosa.
In 2008, Mike Fuentes allegedly met a 14-year-old girl at Warped Tour where they exchanged phone numbers.
In August 2009, Pierce the Veil announced they were recording new material for their next album.
In 2009, Pierce the Veil concluded their record cycle with the Taste of Chaos 2009 tour, alongside Bring Me the Horizon, Thursday, Four Year Strong and Cancer Bats.
On March 9, 2010, the supergroup Isles & Glaciers, featuring Vic and Mike Fuentes with Ayrton Jara, Craig Owens of Chiodos and Jonny Craig of Emarosa, released its first EP titled The Hearts of Lonely People.
On April 27, 2010, Pierce the Veil contributed a cover of Blue Öyster Cult's song "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" to the Punk Goes Classic Rock compilation.
On June 21, 2010, Pierce the Veil released their album Selfish Machines under Equal Vision Records, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart.
On November 1, 2010, Pierce the Veil announced that they would be kicking off 2011 touring with Silverstein, Miss May I, The Chariot, and A Bullet for Pretty Boy on the "Winterizer Tour".
In December 2010, Pierce the Veil played the "This Is a Family Tour" with Emmure, In Fear and Faith, Of Mice & Men, and Attack Attack!.
In 2010, Pierce the Veil released their second full-length studio album titled Selfish Machines.

On May 17, 2012, Pierce the Veil revealed the album cover and track list for Collide with the Sky and announced their first-ever UK headlining tour in September 2012.
On June 5, 2012, Pierce the Veil released "King for a Day", the first single from the album Collide with the Sky, featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens.
On June 16, 2012, Pierce the Veil appeared on the Vans Warped Tour, playing the event's main stage for the first time.
On June 26, 2012, Pierce the Veil released "Bulls in the Bronx", the second single from the album Collide with the Sky.

In 2012, Pierce the Veil released their third album, Collide with the Sky, which marked their first album under Fearless Records. It featured the single "King for a Day" and debuted at No. 12 on the US Billboard 200.
On January 7, 2013, Pierce the Veil and All Time Low announced that they would be co-headlining the Spring Fever Tour in Spring 2013.
On January 9, 2013, Vic Fuentes announced that he had recently been in the studio writing new songs with Tom Denney.

On August 22, 2014, Pierce the Veil confirmed the second leg of the co-headlining tour with Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens, which took place in Europe.

On April 11, 2015, Pierce the Veil concluded their concerts in Europe, including shows in the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, and the UK. All concerts in Europe were sold out, according to Epitaph Records.

In November 2017, drummer Mike Fuentes was accused of soliciting nude photos and statutory rape by a young woman, with the alleged incidents occurring roughly a decade prior. The pair allegedly initiated contact on MySpace before meeting for the first time at a Pierce the Veil concert.
In December 2017, a second woman accused Mike Fuentes of requesting nude pictures when she was a minor. She made the accusation anonymously on Twitter.

On July 5, 2018, vocalist and guitarist Vic Fuentes posted on his social media that he is working on Pierce the Veil's fifth album.
In 2018, in light of the allegations, Mike Fuentes stepped down as drummer to "concentrate on his personal life", and Pierce the Veil announced a hiatus and cancelled their planned 2018 UK tour with All Time Low.
In February 2019, the official Pierce the Veil Twitter account posted that they were still working on the album.
In April 2020, Pierce the Veil uploaded a home rehearsal of their track "Hold On Till May" to YouTube, featuring former member Mike Fuentes, without specifying if he had officially returned to the band. The COVID-19 pandemic occurred this year.
On August 24, 2020, Vic Fuentes confirmed that Mike had left the band in 2017 and will not be featured on the next album.
On September 1, 2022, Pierce the Veil released the single "Pass the Nirvana".
On November 11, 2022, Pierce the Veil released the single "Emergency Contact" and announced their fifth studio album, The Jaws of Life, to be released on February 10, 2023.
