The RBC Heritage, formerly known as the Heritage Classic, is a PGA Tour event held annually in South Carolina since 1969. It takes place in mid-April, following The Masters tournament. The tournament is a prominent event on the PGA Tour schedule, drawing professional golfers to compete.

1969: Arnold Palmer Wins Inaugural Heritage Classic

In 1969, Arnold Palmer, at forty years old, became the inaugural champion, marking his first win in over a year.

1969: Inaugural RBC Heritage Tournament

In 1969, the RBC Heritage was first played.

1972: Harbour Town and Ocean Course

2010: End of Verizon Sponsorship

2011: Tournament Without a Title Sponsor

2012: Royal Bank of Canada Becomes Title Sponsor

Since 2012, the Royal Bank of Canada has been the title sponsor of The Heritage.

2024: Reduced Field of Players

In 2024, The Heritage has a reduced field of only 69 players because it is one of only five tournaments given "invitational" status by the PGA Tour.
