2016: Vernon Hill Becomes Chairman & Bank Expands

In 2016, Republic Bank appointed Vernon Hill, founder of Commerce Bank, as chairman. Also in 2016, Republic Bank was operating 20 branches across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

April 26, 2024: Republic First Bancorp Seized by Regulators and Sold

On April 26, 2024, Republic First Bancorp was seized by U.S. regulators after business hours and sold to Fulton Bank. The seizure, initiated by the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities, followed unsuccessful funding negotiations with a group of investors. To protect depositors, the FDIC, as receiver, approved the sale of Republic Bank's assets and transfer of most deposits to Fulton Bank, a Fulton Financial Corp. unit.

2024: Republic First Bancorp Closes

Republic First Bancorp ceased operations in 2024 after 36 years in business.
