The Dodos are an American indie rock band formed in 2005 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The band consists of guitarist/singer Meric Long and drummer Logan Kroeber. Over a fifteen-year period, they have released eight studio albums, contributing to the indie rock scene with their distinctive sound and musical output.
In 2005, Meric Long and Logan Kroeber began playing music together after being introduced by a mutual friend. They started blending their diverse musical backgrounds, leading to the formation of The Dodos.

In December 2007, The Dodos signed with Frenchkiss Records, marking a significant step in their career.
Throughout most of 2007, Long and Kroeber relentlessly toured in support of the album "Beware of the Maniacs" as Dodo Bird, gaining critical attention and a growing fan base, who eventually prompted the band to change their name to the Dodos.
In March 2008, The Dodos released their second album, "Visiter", to critical acclaim.
In April 2008, Meric Long revealed that the title of their album "Visiter" came from a drawing given to the band by a child at Dorsey High in South Central L.A., which later became the album cover.
On July 27, 2009, The Dodos' album "Time to Die" was released for digital download in the UK.
On July 28, 2009, The Dodos' album "Time to Die" was released for digital download in the US.

In 2010, following the release of "Time to Die", The Dodos performed at Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo.
On March 15, 2011, The Dodos released their fourth album, "No Color", which features vocal contributions from Neko Case.
On March 24, 2011, The Dodos' album "No Color" peaked at No. 70 on the US charts.
In 2012, Christopher Reimer, who had joined The Dodos as a touring member and greatly influenced Meric Long's guitar playing, died in his sleep.
On August 27, 2013, The Dodos released their fifth album, "Carrier", via Polyvinyl Record Co. in various formats, including CD, LP, cassette, and digital.
On January 30, 2015, The Dodos released their sixth album, "Individ".
On October 12, 2018, The Dodos released their seventh album, "Certainty Waves", and shared a new song (and video), "Forum".
On November 12, 2021, The Dodos released their eighth and newest album, "Grizzly Peak", featuring tracks such as "The Surface", "Annie", and "With a Guitar".
