April 21, 1998: Assault on Georgia DOT Employee

On April 21, 1998, in Cherokee County, Georgia, Scott Rechsteiner threatened Georgia Department of Transportation employee Paul Kaspereen after Kaspereen informed him that an exit ramp leading off Interstate 575 was closed. He then hit Kaspereen twice with his Ford F-250 pickup truck.

March 17, 1999: Guilty Plea to Aggravated Assault

On March 17, 1999, Scott Rechsteiner pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and making terroristic threats related to the April 21, 1998 incident. He was sentenced to 10 days in Cherokee County Jail, seven years' probation, fines, restitution, legal fees, and community service.
