Spencer Shrader is an American football placekicker currently playing for the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL. He honed his skills at the collegiate level, playing for both the South Florida Bulls and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. His professional career marks a transition from college football to the highest level of the sport.
In 2019, Spencer Shrader's first collegiate season, he made all 12 of his extra point attempts and four of his nine field goal attempts.
During the 2020 season, Shrader successfully made four out of six field goal attempts and 11 out of 12 extra point attempts.
In 2021, Shrader became a Lou Groza Award semifinalist, having made 11 of his 13 field goal attempts and 35 of his extra point attempts.
During the 2022 season, Shrader made nine of thirteen field goal attempts, and made all 37 of his extra point attempts. After the 2022 season, he decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
In 2023, Shrader transferred to Notre Dame and set a school record with a 54-yard field goal against NC State. In his final collegiate season in 2023, he made 15 of 22 field goal attempts and 61 of 62 extra point attempts.
On April 27, 2024, Spencer Shrader signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL draft. He was later waived and then re-signed to the practice squad.
On October 30, 2024, Shrader signed with the New York Jets practice squad.
On November 14, 2024, Shrader was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs from the Jets' practice squad following an injury to Harrison Butker.
On December 4, 2024, Shrader was placed on injured reserve.
On March 13, 2025, Shrader signed a deal to return to the Indianapolis Colts.
On October 5, 2025, Shrader suffered an injury during an extra-point attempt in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders after a collision with Tristin McCollum. He exited the game early after making both extra point attempts.
