Turks and Caicos Islands

The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the Lucayan Archipelago, known for tourism and offshore finance. They consist of the Caicos Islands and the Turks Islands. The population is estimated between approximately 47,720 and 59,367. They are the third-largest British overseas territory by population.

1917: Canadian Confederation Suggestion

In 1917, Canadian Prime Minister Robert Borden suggested that the Turks and Caicos join Canada, but this suggestion was rejected by British Prime Minister David Lloyd George.
