When Calls the Heart is a Western drama series that premiered on the Hallmark Channel in the US on January 11, 2014, and on Super Channel in Canada on April 16, 2014. The show, created by Michael Landon Jr. and Brian Bird, is inspired by Janette Oke's book from her Canadian West series.

2013: Coal Valley Set Construction

In late 2013, the fictional frontier town of Coal Valley (later Hope Valley) was erected south of Vancouver, British Columbia, on a farm surrounded by vineyards, for the filming of When Calls the Heart.
