José Alberto Rodríguez Chucuan, known as Alberto Del Rio or Alberto El Patrón, is a Mexican professional wrestler, promoter, commentator, and mixed martial artist. He currently wrestles for WWE and AAA, where he holds the AAA Mega Championship for the second time. He gained prominence in WWE as Alberto Del Rio and in Impact Wrestling as Alberto El Patrón.

In May 1977, José Alberto Rodríguez Chucuan, who would later be known as Alberto Del Rio and Alberto El Patrón, was born. He is a Mexican professional wrestler, professional wrestling promoter, sports commentator, and mixed martial artist.
In 1997, Alberto Del Rio placed third at the World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic while competing on the Mexico national team in Greco-Roman wrestling.
On May 9, 2000, Alberto Del Rio made his debut appearance as Dos Caras Jr. during an AAA show to save his father from an attack by El Texano and Pirata Morgan.

On June 30, 2008, Rodríguez made a brief appearance for WWE as a security guard on an episode of Monday Night Raw, marking his initial involvement with the company.

In August 2014, after being fired by WWE, Alberto Rodríguez returned to AAA as El Patrón. He stated WWE owned the Alberto Del Rio name, revealed he would be working for AAA under the El Patrón ring name, and mentioned a 90-day no-compete clause and a one-year ban from wrestling in the United States. He made an appearance at Triplemanía XXII on August 17, 2014, confronting Los Perros del Mal stable and attacking El Hijo del Perro Aguayo.
In August 2014, the World Wrestling Council (WWC) began a storyline where manager Juan Manuel Ortega spoke with "patrón" by telephone, referencing a WrestleMania XXX reunion. Ricardo Rodriguez was sent to disrespect Ray González Sr. The August 24, 2014, storyline began a feud with Ray Gonzales Sr. after Ricardo Rodriguez, delivered a personal message.
In September 2014, Rodríguez's lawyers resolved his issues with WWE, and he was no longer restricted by the no-compete clause. On September 14, 2014, billed as "El Patrón Alberto", he made his AAA in-ring return, teaming with Myzteziz and La Parka to defeat Aguayo, Averno, and El Texano Jr. Alberto then began feuding with El Texano Jr. over the AAA Mega Championship.
In September 2014, the storyline with Rodriguez continued, confirming El Patrón's presence at Aniversario. However, he was unable to appear, and Hernandez replaced him at Aniversario.
On November 1, 2014, Rodríguez, under the ring name "Alberto", debuted for the Japanese Wrestle-1 promotion, defeating Masakatsu Funaki.
In December 2014, Ring of Honor (ROH) announced that Rodríguez, billed as "Alberto El Patrón", had signed to make his debut for the promotion on January 3, 2015.
In 2014, Alberto Del Rio participated in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship, losing to John Cena. He was unsuccessful in challenging Sheamus for the United States Championship and participated in a battle royal for the Intercontinental Championship. After losing several matches, Del Rio was fired from WWE on August 7, 2014, for unprofessional conduct following an altercation with an employee.
