Ann H. Rest is an American politician currently serving as the President pro tempore of the Minnesota Senate. As a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), she represents District 43, located in the western suburbs of Hennepin County within the Twin Cities metro area. Her role as President pro tempore highlights her leadership position within the Minnesota Senate.

On June 14, 2025, Ann Rest spotted Vance Boelter parked near her home. This was the same day he shot and killed Minnesota Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman and her husband and shot at state senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette. However, officers were able to arrive at her home before he could carry out his attempt to assassinate Rest.
On June 16, 2025, it was revealed that Ann Rest was directly targeted by Vance Boelter, who was planning to assassinate her. He had parked near her home on June 14, 2025, but officers arrived before he could act.
Ann Rest is chair of the Tax Expenditure Review Commission until 2025.
