Anuel AA, born Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago, is a prominent Puerto Rican rapper and singer known as "The God of Latin Trap." His music frequently incorporates samples from his youth. He's a controversial figure due to legal issues, including a 30-month prison sentence for firearm possession, and public feuds with other artists like Cosculluela, Ivy Queen, Arcángel, and 6ix9ine. He began recording music at 14 and gained traction online before signing with Maybach Music Group's Latin division. His 2016 mixtape, Real Hasta la Muerte, was successful, and he recorded his debut album while incarcerated, coinciding with the rising popularity of Latin trap music.
