Bennedict Mathurin is a Canadian professional basketball player currently with the Indiana Pacers in the NBA. He played college basketball at the University of Arizona, earning consensus second-team All-American honors and being named Pac-12 Player of the Year during his sophomore season. Mathurin was drafted sixth overall by the Pacers in the 2022 NBA draft. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2023 and finished fourth in Rookie of the Year voting.
On February 13, 2023, after scoring 21 points against the Utah Jazz, Mathurin became the fastest Pacer rookie since Chuck Person in the 1986–87 season to reach 1,000 career points.
In 1988, the Pacers selected Rik Smits second overall, making Mathurin the highest pick since then.
Through the first three games of the season, Mathurin scored 72 points, the most by a rookie since Jerry Stackhouse scored 76 to start off the 1995–96 NBA season.
In 2018, Bennedict Mathurin joined the NBA Academy Latin America in Mexico City, becoming the first Canadian-born player at the academy.
