Bianna Golodryga is a Soviet-born American news anchor and journalist. She is currently a co-anchor on CNN International and CNN Max for the show One World with Zain Asher. Prior to her current role, she served as a senior global affairs analyst at CNN and worked as a news and finance anchor at Yahoo! News. She also has experience co-anchoring the weekend edition of Good Morning America and co-hosting CBS This Morning, showcasing her versatility and experience in the broadcasting industry.
On June 15, 1978, Bianna Vitalievna Golodryga was born in the Soviet Union. She is now an American news anchor and journalist.
In 1980, Bianna Golodryga's family left the Soviet Union as political refugees when she was 18 months old, with only $150. They moved to Galveston, Texas, before settling in Houston.
In 1988, Bianna Golodryga returned to her birthplace to visit her grandparents and cousins. Later that year, her grandmother joined her family in Houston.
In May 2000, Bianna Golodryga graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Russian/East European and Eurasian studies and a minor in economics.
In February 2001, Bianna Golodryga moved to New York and began working as a producer at CNBC, where she later became an on-air correspondent.
In 2004, Bianna Golodryga was named one of the top journalists under the age of 30.
In 2007, Bianna Golodryga became a correspondent for ABC.
In May 2010, Bianna Golodryga was named co-anchor of the weekend edition of Good Morning America.
In September 2010, Bianna Golodryga married Peter R. Orszag, the CEO of Lazard and former Director of the Office of Management and Budget during the Barack Obama administration.
In April 2013, Bianna Golodryga interviewed Anzor Tsarnaev, the father of the Boston Marathon bombers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. She called this interview "the most emotional moment" of her career.
On August 4, 2014, Bianna Golodryga left Good Morning America to join the business and finance news department of Yahoo! News.
In 2015, Hillary Clinton selected Bianna Golodryga for an interview, but a miscommunication led to CNN's Brianna Keilar conducting the interview instead.
In December 2016, Bianna Golodryga confronted Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher over his defense of Russian president Vladimir Putin, highlighting her background as a political refugee from the Soviet Union.
On October 3, 2018, Bianna Golodryga joined CBS This Morning as a co-host.
During the 2021 Israel–Palestine crisis, Bianna Golodryga interviewed Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Pakistani Minister of Foreign Affairs, and challenged his remarks, which she considered antisemitic.
