Caris LeVert is an American professional basketball player currently with the Detroit Pistons in the NBA. He played college basketball at the University of Michigan. Drafted by the Indiana Pacers, he was immediately traded to the Brooklyn Nets. LeVert subsequently played for the Pacers and the Cleveland Cavaliers before a trade sent him to the Atlanta Hawks. He signed with the Pistons during the offseason. His career has involved several team changes through trades and free agency.
In 1985–86, Michigan clinched its first outright (unshared) Big Ten Conference championship since then.

In 2012, as a high school senior, Caris LeVert led Pickerington Central to a 26–2 record and the OHSAA Division I state championship. He was also named an Associated Press All-Ohio Second Team high school basketball player and the Columbus Dispatch Metro Player of the Year.
In 2013, Caris LeVert scored 8 points in a NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament final four victory over Syracuse, playing for 21 minutes.
In 2014, Caris LeVert was a second team 2013–14 All-Big Ten selection and was named to the all-District V team by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).
Prior to the 2014–15 season, Caris LeVert received several preseason honors, including being named a first team All-Big Ten selection, selected to Preseason All-American teams by multiple sources, listed in ESPN's preseason top 100 player ranking, and named a John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 candidate. He was also named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List on November 24.
Prior to the 2015–16 season, Caris LeVert was named an All-Big Ten preseason selection for the second straight year and earned recognition on multiple preseason watchlists and All-American teams.
After being sidelined for 42 games due to a severe leg injury, Caris LeVert returned to action on February 8, 2019. In his return game, he scored 11 points in 15 minutes off the bench, during a 125–106 loss to the Chicago Bulls.
Caris LeVert returned from a thumb injury on January 4, 2020, after being sidelined since November 10. In his return game against the Toronto Raptors, he scored 13 points.
On January 8, 2021, Caris LeVert achieved a career-best performance by scoring 7 three-point shots, contributing to a total of 43 points against the Memphis Grizzlies, while several key players were sidelined.
On January 25, 2021, Caris LeVert underwent successful surgery to remove a mass on his left kidney, which was diagnosed as renal cell carcinoma. He was expected to make a full recovery.
