Caris LeVert is an American professional basketball player currently with the Detroit Pistons in the NBA. He played college basketball at the University of Michigan. Originally drafted by the Indiana Pacers, he was immediately traded to the Brooklyn Nets. He subsequently played for the Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers before a trade to the Atlanta Hawks in February 2025. He signed with the Detroit Pistons in the following off-season.

In 2012, as a high school senior, Caris LeVert led Pickerington Central to a 26–2 record and the OHSAA Division I state championship. He also received individual accolades, including being named an Associated Press All-Ohio Second Team high school basketball player and the Columbus Dispatch Metro Player of the Year.
During the offseason of 2013, Caris LeVert trained extensively. As a sophomore, he became a key contributor to Michigan basketball. He achieved career-highs in points and rebounds early in the season. LeVert scored 24 points against Duke on December 3. He was named a 2014 second team 2013–14 All-Big Ten selection.
In 2013, during his freshman year at Michigan, Caris LeVert saw limited playing time initially but eventually contributed as a perimeter defender. He made his first start on December 29 and averaged 2.3 points per game. He also contributed to the team's Final Four victory in the 2013 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament.
After being sidelined for the final 14 games of the 2014–15 season, Caris LeVert started the next season strong with a game-high 18 points against Northern Michigan.
In 2014, Caris LeVert was named a second team All-Big Ten selection. The 2013–14 team was eliminated in the elite eight round of the 2014 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament by Kentucky.
Prior to the 2014–15 season, Caris LeVert received numerous preseason accolades, including being named a first team All-Big Ten preseason selection and inclusion on various All-American teams and award watch lists such as the John R. Wooden Award and Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List.
Prior to the 2015–16 season, Caris LeVert was named an All-Big Ten preseason selection for the second straight year and was included on the Jerry West Award preseason watchlist and various Preseason All-American teams. He was ranked among the top players by ESPN and NBC Sports and made the John R. Wooden Award and Naismith College Player of the Year watchlists.
In 2016, Caris LeVert was selected with the 20th overall pick in the NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers but was later traded to the Brooklyn Nets. He signed his rookie scale contract with the Nets on July 14 and made his NBA debut on December 7. He finished 12th in the voting for the 10-man NBA All-Rookie team, almost making the team.
In 2017, after Jeremy Lin's injury, Caris LeVert entered the starting lineup for the Brooklyn Nets and later took on the back-up point guard role due to injuries to Lin and D'Angelo Russell.
On March 4, 2018, Caris LeVert scored 27 points in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
On October 17, 2018, Caris LeVert equaled his career high with 27 points during the Nets' season opener. The game resulted in a 103–100 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
On February 8, 2019, Caris LeVert made his return to the court after missing 42 games due to a severe right leg injury. He played 15 minutes off the bench and scored 11 points in a 125–106 loss to the Chicago Bulls.
On August 26, 2019, Caris LeVert signed a three-year contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets, solidifying his commitment to the team.
On January 4, 2020, Caris LeVert returned from a thumb injury that had sidelined him since November 10. He scored 13 points in a game against the Toronto Raptors.
On January 8, 2021, Caris LeVert had a career-best performance, making 7 three-point shots on 9 attempts as part of a 43-point effort against the Memphis Grizzlies.
On January 16, 2021, Caris LeVert was traded to the Indiana Pacers as part of a multi-player, four-team trade. The trade also involved the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets, and it sent James Harden to Brooklyn and Victor Oladipo to Houston.
On February 6, 2022, Caris LeVert was traded to his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, along with a 2022 second-round pick, in exchange for Ricky Rubio, a 2023 first-round pick, a 2022 second-round pick, and a 2027 second-round pick.
On October 28, 2022, Caris LeVert scored a season-high 41 points during a 132–123 overtime win against the Boston Celtics. During this game, Donovan Mitchell also totaled 41 points, and the duo became the first pairing on the Cavaliers to each score 40+ in a game since LeBron James and Kyrie Irving did so in Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals.
