Prior to his political career, Bacon served for 29 years in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Brigadier General. He commanded wings at Ramstein Air Base in Germany and Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. His congressional district encompasses the city of Omaha and the area surrounding Offutt Air Force Base.
