Giro d'Italia

The Giro d'Italia is an annual, multi-stage bicycle race primarily held in Italy, starting in 1909. It was created to boost sales of La Gazzetta dello Sport and has been run annually, excluding periods during the World Wars. Over time, the race expanded in length and international participation. Today, the Giro is a UCI World Tour event, featuring primarily UCI WorldTeams and select 'wild card' teams.
