Iran is the official daily newspaper of the government of Iran and is published in Persian.

1995: Iran Newspaper Launch

In 1995, the newspaper Iran was launched. It is owned and published by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

May 2006: Newspaper Closure

In May 2006, Iran newspaper was closed down by the Press Supervisory Board after publishing a caricature deemed "divisive and provocative", which mocked Azeris.

2007: Iran Network Website Operation

In 2007, the "Iran Network Website" started operating as an Iranian news website owned by the Iranian Cultural and Press Institute.

August 2011: Khatoon's Special Issue Controversy

In August 2011, the publication of a special 258-page issue of the Iran newspaper called "Vijehnameh Khatoon 1" led to political activists accusing the authors of questioning the Islamic veil.

November 20, 2011: Press Conference After Sentencing

On November 20, 2011, after Ali Akbar Javanfekr, the director of Iran, was sentenced to one year in prison, she held a press conference at the Iran newspaper's office, repeating her statements in an interview with Etemad newspaper and protesting the verdict.

June 2013: Newspaper Banned

In June 2013, Iran newspaper was banned for six months by an Iranian court due to its alleged false report.

2013: Iran Network Website Closure

At the end of 2013, the "Iran Network Website", which was owned by the Iranian Cultural and Press Institute, was shut down after operating since 2007.

2013: Appointment of Mohammad Taqi Roghaniha

Following the 2013 presidential election Mohammad Taqi Roghaniha, CEO of Iran Cultural and Press Institute (ICPI), was appointed manager of the Iran daily newspaper.

October 2016: Joined Twitter

In October 2016, Iran newspaper joined the Twitter social network to publish news and articles.

November 2016: Twitter Account Approved

In November 2016, the Iran Newspaper account was officially approved by Twitter.

February 1, 2019: Follower Count

As of February 1, 2019, the number of followers of the Iran Newspaper account on Twitter reached 104,700.
