Ivan Provorov is a Russian professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL. He previously played for the Philadelphia Flyers. Provorov is known for his defensive skills and on-ice presence, marking him as a notable player in the National Hockey League.
In 2013, at the age of 16, Provorov was drafted by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League (USHL) in the first round, fifth overall, of the 2013 USHL futures draft.

Due to sanctions imposed on the Russian Athletics Federation, in 2021, Provorov competed at the IIHF World Championship as part of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
From his debut, Provorov did not miss an NHL game until January 4, 2022, when he entered COVID-19 protocols several hours prior to a game against the Anaheim Ducks. Prior to that date, he had not missed a game of hockey since the age of 10, when he contracted chickenpox and stayed home so as not to infect his teammates.
In 2022, Provorov's iron man streak with the Flyers ended after not missing a game since 2016.
On June 6, 2023, the Flyers traded Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a three-team deal also involving the Los Angeles Kings.
