Joseph Clay Kent is an American politician and former military and intelligence officer. He served as a United States Army warrant officer and a Central Intelligence Agency paramilitary officer. Since 2025, Kent has served as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center. As a member of the Republican Party, he was the Republican candidate for Washington's third congressional district in the United States House of Representatives elections in both 2022 and 2024.
On April 11, 1980, Joseph Clay Kent was born. He later became an American politician, former United States Army warrant officer, and former Central Intelligence Agency paramilitary officer.
By September 2003, following his training, Joe Kent was deployed to Iraq, where he fought in the First Battle of Fallujah, and searched for Iraqi officials.
In December 2014, Joe Kent married Shannon Smith, a cryptologist whom he had met at Fort Belvoir.
In January 2019, Joe Kent's wife, Shannon, was killed in a suicide bombing in Manbij, Syria. Following this tragic event, Kent became involved in political advocacy.
