Lea Salonga is a celebrated Filipino singer and actress renowned for her extensive work in musical theatre. In 2006, Lea Salonga concluded the closing ceremony of the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, with the song "Triumph of the One", performing before an audience of 50,000 people.
In March 2007, Lea Salonga returned to Broadway to play Fantine in Les Misérables. Her return boosted ticket sales, and she received positive reviews. During her run, she participated in various Broadway events and benefited The Actors Fund.
On August 14, 2007, Lea Salonga received the Order of Lakandula, with the rank of Commander (Komandante), from Philippine President Gloria Arroyo. This was in recognition of her contributions to Philippine society and cultural exchange through her talents.
